Curlew River: A Parable for Church Performance

An area concert premiere of Britten’s unique 1964 work inspired by Japanese Noh theater.  Cantate will present a fully mounted production with new choreography by renowned performance artist Shizumi Shigeto Manale. Also on the program is the world premiere of Chidori for women’s voices and koto, the Japanese string instrument, by acclaimed composer Gary Davison and another new work by Davison – Observances – based on poetry by Margaret Ingraham.
