Benjamin Britten’s beloved community opera Noye’s Fludde will feature the St. Columba’s Children’s and Hand Bell Choirs (John Hurd and Diane Heath, directors) performing alongside guest artists James Rogers and Joan McFarland and Cantate. Also on Saturday’s program is Gian Carlo Menotti’s whimsical ballet The Unicorn, the Gorgon and the Manticore. Cantate is thrilled to collaborate with Bowen McCauley Dance (Lucy Bowen McCauley, director) in reprising this enchanting production, hailed by the Washington Post in 2009 for its “wit and neoclassical grace.”
The Saturday 10/18 performance is at 5pm and features the double bill of Britten and Menotti followed by a post-concert reception. Sunday’s performance – of Britten’s Noye’s Fludde only – is only $20 and is also at 5:00pmTickets to the 2nd performance on the 19th are $20 and may be purchased here.
